    Re: Creative Marketing

Not only have people bought a 15lb box of wood scraps, they ordered it online and had it delivered to their house.

    And it gets weirder:

    Re: Black bees

This thread has some photos and a bit of discussion. There are a couple of posts from Florida, and a link to another black bee thread.

Re: SHB now in New Mexico

There just aren't that many people here, and most of them are in the cities. We have a pretty diverse geography but it's much drier than much of the US. I suspect the lack of vegetation and moisture...

    Re: Thanksgiving Day bees

It's just a small number of bees on the landing board with a few of them coming and going.

    First deadout of the season

This was a small swarm captured in the spring. Pretty sure they lost their queen.

Re: What made you decide to keep bees?

I wanted something that could be mastered in a weekend and which would then become self-sustaining with zero effort on my part. And of course the huge wads of money.

Re: Bees Only Heat the Cluster, Not the Hive?

When we're talking about heat, are we talking about convection, conduction, or radiation? Or all three.

Are we mistaking the heat that's naturally lost into the hive (and then through the walls...

    Re: Hitler on Beekeeping

I suppose that whether or not it's amusing depends on one's understanding of who he was and what he did, or how many of one's family he sent to the camps to be murdered in the gas chambers.
  15. Re: Transferring emails from computer to disc

I need them in individual files so they can be sorted by "From" or by "Subject", for example. If they're in a single .pdf file I don't think they can be.
  16. Re: Transferring emails from computer to disc

I think that's what the export function in Live Mail will be doing, Dean. I can get the folder with all the emails onto the disk with no problem, but when I view it with File Explorer the information...
  17. Re: Transferring emails from computer to disc

I thought about doing that but the date changes to the date it was forwarded, which means hundreds of emails with the same date. I need them ordered by the original date.
  18. Re: Transferring emails from computer to disc

That seems to be the way to go. I've already exported them so I'll see if the other party has Live Mail. Thanks.

    Re: Is this robbing?

I see a yellow jacket in there. If there are more that may have them on alert, but they seem more congested than agitated. I'd pull the reducer and see what happens. If there's an unexpected flow on...

Re: Bees Only Heat the Cluster, Not the Hive?

The proof of the pudding is in the tasting. You're achieving 10%-15% overwintering losses. It's obvious to even the most casual of observers that there is no flaw.

Re: Bees Only Heat the Cluster, Not the Hive?

FWIW, heat does not rise. Air that is warmer than it's surroundings will. (I think that's right)

Re: How do I Move My Hives 170 Miles?

You won't need to do anything to force them to reorient. They'll do that themselves.

I would just screen the entrance and at least part of the top and make sure they're strapped down securely and...

Re: Honor Canadians killed by terrorists

My condolences. America couldn't find a more loyal ally than Canada, and we should be grateful for our neighbors. This photo of Cpl. Cirillos's dogs is just heartbreaking.
