Re: Do you check before you place your hives

You've not given near enough information.

Here is an example……we have 3 to 6 trucks running each night, often two loads each. Every location is registered (often for 40 years or more), we have...

  3. Re: using the mast off a Clark TW25 on a Bobcat610

One of my 610s has a 10' version of that mast……main thing I don't like is it is a 'gravity feed' down…….requires some additional plumbing and is much slower then the power up/power down. Also, make...

    Sticky: Re: Pollination prices

And that's already a $10.00 raise over the original contract they sent out just a few weeks ago. They're still low.........

Keith.....obviously I feel the same way or I wouldn't have done business with them for so many years......still fun to jab at em from time to time though.

Re: guide for how much sugar to buy

Dang Joe.....I've gotta find your pkg source.......I buy a gzillion 3 pounders each year and it's the rare one that covers a full 4 frames. Maybe I need to invest in a scale ;) :D

    Re: Predictions 2014

A "MAJOR" growers contract was just released.........$150.00 for eight frames plus bonus with 'full' inspection. Every grower in the valley will know about it in no time.

Rodo......MHO....You didn't mention what configuration your Bobcat is. "IF" it has a mast and the '5th' wheel assembly and is otherwise in reasonably good condition, I would continue with a repower....

    Re: repower a bobcat

Do NOT put that one in......it has the wrong crank, does not have the "hardened" crank gear, idler gear or dist. gear, nor does it have the "output" shaft for the hydro pump. I repower 610's all the...

Re: Dan Rather report on bee shortage in Calif almonds

OK....this is interesting. I know Bob well.....we have discussed this 'some'. A large percentage of our hives will be on melons all summer surrounded by cotton. It has been literally years since I've...

Re: Can someone explain this picture?

OK.....I like that one but I was looking more towards the stocking of mating nucs process. I don't use bulk bees to stock mine and have never seen it done that way.

Re: Dan Rather report on bee shortage in Calif almonds

I have hives that left almonds and went directly to another crop that is the ONLY source of pollen they will see until early Nov.....I pay dearly for it. We have no choice (IMO) but to supplement...

Re: Can someone explain this picture?

I would disagree.......looks to be about 20%-30% bloom......there is absolutely no petal drop and zero green in the trees. I'm not sure how that works with the growers but if I were a grower, I'd...
  23. Re: Bloom is over but bees still aren't released??? anyone else????

Happens every year. Some growers just don't want to let go until the last petal falls. There are some hard shells with a bit to go but not much......should be done by the end of the week with these...
