    Re: lega uncapper [Review]

So, we extracted 48 frames (40 mediums and 8 shallows, I think). Got about 16 gallons of honey and probably a cup of "cappings".

What we expected and was happy with:

    It worked pretty...

    Re: lega uncapper

Correct, as it sits now, you have to hold it in position to lower the "handles" that push the frame down. The backstop puts it in proper place for you.

BTW, we used ours today. Overall, we...

Re: So... I got stung by a queen today!

There was venom. It lasted long enough. Also when I pressed on the area you could feel the toxins being pushed around like a regular sting.

Re: So... I got stung by a queen today!

Oddly enough, it was my first inspection. Hadn't hardly disturbed the bees even. I think I just had her in a way that allowed her to easily do it.

Re: So... I got stung by a queen today!

I do have amazing luck with queens.

By that I mean, bad luck. LOL

I had one sting herself in the marking tube (I don't use that anymore)... she was knocked out/paralyzed for about 10 mins.

So... I got stung by a queen today!

Is there some rare club that I now belong to?

I grabbed her was holding her in my hand to mark her and POP! she got me.

Was about like any other minor sting that you get the stinger out pretty...

We should be running it shortly... thought we were gonna do it this past week/weekend, but other projects came up.

Positive, we have a nice big honking solar wax melter that we finished up last...

    Re: lega uncapper

I could see how they could make interchangeable pieces and a long enough back stop to not need to switch, just adjust.

Do your frames in batches. Get all the mediums done, then the shallows. ...

    Re: lega uncapper

Just got an email back (an hour after sending my concern). They are aware of the issue and addressing solutions right now and will be taking care of previous customers.

    So far I'm pretty happy.

    Ok, I got it in.

Definitely right about not really "naturally" supporting the medium frames. Not sure what the hell that is all about.

Sending an email off to Blue Sky next just wanted to...

Looks like there is really only one or two bits that might give problems.

The back stop bar seems like it should be long enough or if not then could be pretty easily extended (though you shouldn't...

We run only mediums so I'm very interested in those comments from Facebook... then again, it is FB. ;)

I have a few frames in my van so I'll...

How many boxes per pounds of bees?

Got my first "Jaws Moment" (We're gonna need a bigger box) the other day on a swarm call.

I'm gonna guess six pounds... This thing was HUGE.

I set them up in three 8 frame mediums with 8 frames...

    Well... update.

    Not good.

Went through both boxes yesterday.... no queen, no egg/larvae in either. One was quieter and calmer than the other so maybe a virgin in that one came out of the cell...

    Re: Sorry, lame split question.

Gonna go a head and probably swap them tomorrow.

Again, more bees in old location than new.

Will try to get in there and do an inspection if I can find the time.

    Re: Sorry, lame split question.

Ok, more hanging out on the new hive in the old location now and almost nothing on the original...they are in there, just not busting out.

Should I swap again tomorrow? Give them a day to being...

    Re: Sorry, lame split question.

Swapped places with the hives today.

Numbers seemed kind of low on the one I moved and I'm pretty sure there were very few foragers to the new location/hive because they all went to the old one.

    Re: Sorry, lame split question.

Yeah, IDEALLY if you could find your queen that would be best because then you know what you are giving the queenless hive.

If you can't find her (it is hard when you first start, so don't feel...
