Apparently it's legal in Ft. Lauderdale, as all i could find under the codes search was the following:
Sec. 6-12. - Beekeeping restrictions.
(a)
Flight path control of bees. It shall be...
Try some honey b healthy and/or leaves and organic matter. Maybe up the chlorine level too. Bees prefer smelly water. And offer to cover your neighbor's pool with a tarp for a couple days so your...
I routinely put cutouts on foundation with no problem. In fact, I hardly use the cutout comb anymore because SHB is so bad in feral colonies here in Fla., and few of them will maintain the comb. I...
I always have top feeders with HBH going on cutouts and swarms.
Physically excluding pests should always be the first step in a management program. I like the bucket/moat suggestion
yep. you might want to check your liability insurance. livestock insurance probably doesn't cover trapouts :)
If the outside pic is showing the entrance, it looks like the colony hasn't been established too long, which is good. And it looks like suncoast or America can take care of that removal since you...
Stung,
Have you contacted your property management co.? While you don't mention where in your apartment your bees are, Removals can involve a significant amount of cutting into walls, ceilings,...
Maybe no queen? Maybe 1/2 of my cutouts never 'get it together' and I have to combine them with other colonies. Clumps of them will hang around the outside of the hive box, under the SBB or on the...
Jamie Ellis has a good video about small hive beetle life history and control:
Small Hive Beetle video
Sure, but what if something goes wrong..you'd be in a pile of hurt. It's one colony of probable feral bees. In a municipal owned fire hydrant. Near a public road. risk/ benefit ratio not worth it,...
That's what I do with cutouts.
The harbor freight ones break too frequently for me. I order cases of them from Hillman Supply, ~7.00 a box of 100: Gloves
Be sure to tell them you want the blue...
This is in Tampa? If so, a trapout would be way too risky b/c of AHB potential. Risk management would shut that down if they hear about it. We do a lot of work for the city.
Very nice videos, jhs.
I've always called it 'sweeping the front porch'.
I'd bet an Andrenid Bee. Also known as Mining Bee:

Well put, dnebee.
for the record, I do try to support local businesses and despise CCC (cheap chinese crap).
Is it bringing in lots of pollen and nectar, or lack of brood consuming the bee bread that creates large amounts of bee bread?
nice! I have a huge one that i'm trying to work my way over to. bee careful working multifamily cutouts. Things can go south with tenants and mgt, and you end up with insurance claims and/or...
All this shuffling about won't matter anyway. The SEC will clobber you wherever you are :D
Don't forget to throw Ant stings in the numbers!!
A swarm may have moved in recently, hence no brood.
Thanks for the links. Seeing such respected beekeepers like George and Mike explain the crimes just hurts to watch. I hope you can put this behind you quickly, and trust that most folks are good.
Bee removal really takes a toll on our bee suits. We order all our suits from Kelley's. Great personal service in that wonderful K-tucky accent. Now, fi only they can get a suit that actually fits my...
like earthchild says, brush them into the hive box. you need to get in there to make sure nurse bees are covering the brood, otherwise the brood is dead.
