Wish I had taken a pic, but didn't have my phone...
I lost a hive recently. I do not know just when and am not experienced enough to know just why. This was a swarm that took up residence in an...
  2. Re: Over the phone threat on life over bee removal. lol

Make it your ringtone and assign it to calls from fellow beekeepers!
  3. Re: Jeez...who knew honey could be so heavy!

The bees use many helpers making multiple trips with small amounts to put it in there. Hmmmm???
  4. Re: Thanks to y'all, I stopped robbing FAST!

I showered mine with a garden hose.

Re: any reason NOT to use black comb?

Wonder if ABK could summarize all those articles.
  7. Re: Inspecting a double-deep hive yesterday, a complete mess

A frame of eggs won't hurt and it might help.

  10. Re: How to repel or eradicate nuisance Honeybees?

Still, I am sorry for your difficulty.

    Walk away split

I started a split at the beginning of May. The next week there were queen cells. At the beginning of June I was concerned not to see evidence of a queen. I added a frame of fresh eggs from the...

Re: Miller Bee Supply Apollo Half Suit???

I bought a half suit from miller a few years back and was disappointed. Poor workmanship. I now use a simple veil from Kelly with a long sleeve shirt.

Re: How accurate is "bee math?"

My first split of the year split was more than a week late. It's fine now. I think the new queen was just holding out for a better benefits package.
  16. Re: what to charge for pulling bees for tree. and advice on doing it

I think I'd do the first one for the experience of it and then decide how much I'd want to be paid to do it again.
  17. Re: Has anyone actually caught a swarm with a bait hive?

Caught three last summer. Actually, three swarms found three of my empty hives and moved in. No effort at all.

    Re: Requeening an Unestablished Hive?

It might be best to build a relationship with an experienced beekeeper in your area. Maybe join a beekeeping club.

Never knew it was so easy ...

I lost 3/4 of my bees last winter. Frustrating, but I am still learning! The neat thing is I left empty hives from these losses in three locations thinking I'd get them in and cleaned up before the...
