spiltting works but you must destroy all but one or two queen cells when you do ...I split this spring queens located and in a box with no queen cells but did not destroy the swarm cells in the other...
I was wondering if maybe I killed the queen when they dropped on the limb and it made them hot?
as far as I know we dont have afb here so dont think it is that bad and they have calmed down a lot in the last couple of hours
saw a swarm in one of the trees so I caught it had to go up the tree and drop the limb and the set a box over the swarm on the ground after it hit.
Now a hout or so later I got to mow around...

I went from one swarm to 3 strong hives last year and those three are now split into 6 strong hives this spring I could if I want split once more with out feeding too much but the third split takes...
I put mine in the freezer and scrape em while they are cold ...
if you say and I did not get stung once today it was a great day to split hives
since I did not have time to search for the queen today it will save time to let them do what they will and they will tell me where she is without digging in the lower deep and disturbing them more...
split all three hives two last week on tuesday and last one today ....inspected today and new queen cells with larvae in a 10 frame walk away split from them and founf the pol line hygenic queen in...
HMM Im a Hobby keeper so far started with a caught swarm last spring ...made splits off it all summer to get up to three hives, all three survived great and now I have made spilts already this year...
LOL thats what I thought
I cut this exposed comb hive out of a tree last fall by simply cutting off the limb and mounting it on top of a deep and built a patch work of walls around it for the winter nothing else was done for...
crocus are in full bloom here as well as daffodils and dandylions and the oak trees
actually I thought the directions state that you spray it on bees that will not take syurp ....when they have nosema its my understanding they sometimes will not take syurp, but they will clean...
Im starting to think its the fact they are in the shade more than the others and stay colder perhaps ...the queens in all hives were replaced in fall so should be a good strong queen and they were...
