Feed them and let it be, if they survive the winter you will have a very strong hive in spring. Thats really all you can do, hope they survive.
Never done PS treatments, but seen an old boy in Germany do it. He turns His boxs upside down and dusts them. A friend of mine in Taiwan does this.
A couple of other things I found, on varroa...
Very True!
Nice setup Zonker!
I open mine up even in the forties, just be quick about it.
Yes freezing will work great, I could leave mine in the garage all winter too. :) But I have had good service keeping them in the basement too. We use to keep them in a honey house in Florida without...
If you have a dry basement, cover that box with wood over and under. Store it with the comb for next year. Put the other emptys on top for weight to hold it down tight. I put mine in the darkest...
Very nice, I might have to try using my escape board like that. Make sure you post some pics of your crush and strain.
+1 with oldtimer, time to kick them out!
Yes, you can always rob the top box in spring when the Dandelions bloom. Then nadir 2 empty boxs, and let them have at it again!
I say leave them all three boxs for winter, and add a box in the coming spring. Thats what I will do with mine if they are lighter than expected.
I guess with all the publicity today, everyone is more aware of raw honey.
Kelbor, there was no brood in the boxs, only capped and uncapped honey. The honey that was uncapped was cured enough, none ran out when tipped. When you reduce Your hive's, check each box for capped...
Rox, I saw one bee run off, you need to reduce the entrance with a block of wood. Make it about 3/4's of the opening in length. That will make it even easier for them to defend.
Hey Dan, how did the combine go, and are they backfilling those empty frame combs?
Will, that is a super nice lift. When I get to where I need to use one, I will remember this.
Thanks!
Kelbor, some wash their wax and make mead with the wash water. Others wash and feed water back to bees. And still some let the bees just clean the wax of honey. I wash and discard wash water for now,...
I get 4.50 a half pint, 8.00 a pint, 15.00 for a quart. Some here ask 5, 9 and 16 for the same amounts.
It is just starting to bloom here, and our clover did real well and is still producing. We also have Aster and many other wild flowers blooming here too.
Nice birthday gift, did you get a 4 frame? And Happy Belated Birthday Brother Beek! Your half frames will work, just start out slow and speed up slowly until no more slings out. I hope you get a...
Dan, how are your bee's doing now?
I think you are right on there Rafael! :)
Full sun light for at least morning till mid afternoon, for me.
