I do not see insulatores fastening your "hot" wire to the posts, are you using insulators? This might be the reason your system "shorted out" during the rain.

I do not have any Buckfast colonies or queens, I was just trying to help out. There was a discussion in the past about Buckfast breeders, this is the only breeder info I saw:

If they were mine I would put on enough clothes to weather the storm and put them back together. They sound like my most productive colony. Mine require smoke and a full set of clothes. Good Luck...

We use films at our local Beekeepers meeting, about two years ago Michael was a speaker at the Big Bee Buzz in Tulsa, I very much enjoyed his presentation. At...
"who sells carnis in the south? I live in east Tx. and from what I can find there is no shipping only pick up at location, and its just to far away."
Last year there were 2 people south east of...
I think possibly you are misunderstanding, you can buy queens and packages shipped through the mail. If you buy Nuc's they have to be picked up.
If I had to convience the landlord I would go to a different landlord. The people I deal with want the bees!
My suggestion is for you to call your County Extension Director, they probably have a list of people that will find the bee source and collect them. It is very unlikely those bees will bother your...
I had a County Agent that had a pasture just north of mine, he broadcast arrowleaf clover in his pasture. My bees that are the closest to arrowleaf clover have produced the most honey for me. ...
Does the critter you have tunnel (Moles)? or
Make mounds? (Pocket Gophers)
Either way there is a poison grain you can put in the pocket or tunnel and solve your problem!
I suggest collecting a few of these bugs in a glass or plastic container and taking them to your local County Extension Center to see what they are and how much danger they might be to your bees....
Just for curosity how about you opening that hive up and you tell us what is going on. It sounds to me like you have a mouse in there! Or there are neighborhood bees robbing!
Send me your email address and I will forward it to Kirk

I copied and sent your message to a guy at Glencoe Okla, he might respond?
I made another batch using:
1/3 C butter
1/4 C of the lightest honey I have (it is very light amber)
3/4 C raw peanuts
no baking soda
all combined and constantly stirred in a 9" cast iron...
I used a large cast iron skillet ( it had too much surface), I used 2/3 cup dark honey & 1 cup raw peanuts combined together and gently boiled for a total of 20 min., I kept testing it in a glass of...
Ammonium Nitrate - We used ammonium nitrate for the nitrogen it contained in crop production for years with no problems. Most all of the fertilizer warehouses carried it. Then along came Timothy...
I give up, when is it, where is it going to bee and how much is it going to cost?
I do not know what happened to "The Last Beekeeper" film. Vanishing of the Bee's from Kelley's is a film that covers the subject. Our group watched it this summer. It left me with lots of...
I was thinking this would be a good way to start a Nuc. Are there any updates to this thread? Have there been any problems? Is there a time in the spring that causes problems. I realise you have...
You might try replaceing the "O-ring" or rubbing some vaseline on your "O-ring".
If you have a local car wash that will work wonders. Be sure you use rinse as the last cycle!
762 lb average X 460 hives = 350,520 lbs.
I'm with most of the responders, I would like to know how these bees were being helped out?????
