Does any one know the diameter for support pins? I found the length and the crown sizes, but not the actual diameter of the pin itself. Thanks in advance guys.

    Re: September Swarms?

My bees stores are low because of all the rain we've had this season. I've started feeding the swarms but holding out for the stronger hives. Maybe I need to reconsider. They are russians after all.

    September Swarms?

I've had two small swarms in the past two weeks. They're about the size of softballs. Anyone else experiencing these fall splits?

Re: To Clip, Or Not To Clip,AAARRRRGGG!

Thanks Roland. New question. Is it better to spilt in the spring or fall? Splits in the spring will hurt your honey harvest, fall splits will hurt your wallet buying sugar and patties for food. But...

Re: Mowing around your hives. How do you do it?

I've got my hives at least a foot off of the ground at the lowest point. I think it helps with the exhaust and thrown grass. I also hunker down as I pass to make the obstruction smaller. They don't...

Rabet joints work well. They're pretty simple and common for bee hives. We use them with 1 1/2" staples in both sides of the corners to stop the wood from cupping or warping due to the weather.
