If your hive was strong despite the chalkbrood it may have recently swarmed. That would account for the larva but no eggs. Not sure what you meant about possibly seeing a swarm cell but no queen...
Are you still feeding? You'll need to feed them for awhile to encourage wax production which will provide space for your queen to lay.
