    Re: Plastic foudation

I tried the roller and it just did not work well for me - likely because it was a cheapo roller. I have better results w/ the brush, but you'll want to try both and see which works best for you....

    Re: Saving Money

Did you wire those foundationless frames? That has helped me, especially with the deeps, though I don't do many foundationless deeps. (Most of my deeps are PF's or rubber-banded-in comb from...

  7. Re: How much do you charge for swarm removal if you do and what about the one's left

Have you tried? You will likely be surprised. Some may say no. Some will sign your contract.

How many is "too many". I'm not where you are but I'd still bet there aren't many that will do it "just...

  10. Re: How much do you charge for swarm removal if you do and what about the one's left

Be careful about blanket statements. I know of NO such insurance requirements in either state I've done removals/cutouts in (TN and AL).

OP: For swarms, I generally do not charge IF it is very...

Re: Being sued for Bee stings?

I'd be willing to bet there WERE venemous snake around (not flying but there, nonetheless) but just not yours. Same with the bees, as you've already come to the conclusion. You're more likely to get...

Re: Is this a good deal for shallows?

The first boxes I bought was when I got 3 used ones from a beek who was going to all mediums. I was lucky I did not bring in any diseases. My personal policy now is that I don't buy used woodenware....

I'm with the others. Sounds like you accidentally caught a swarm. They won't leave and return to the hive because that IS their hive. -js

    Welcome from Kingsport.

I like the Freeman trap but don't count on it eliminating ALL the beetles. They work great at controlling the beetles but I don't think anything will actually eliminate...

  18. Re: Treatment-Free, Winter 2012-2013, How's it going?

Yes, it is a PITA running them through the kitchen freezer. That is why I pried the wallet out of my pocket and bought a freezer. Initially looked for a good used one but wound up getting a new one...
  19. Re: Treatment-Free, Winter 2012-2013, How's it going?

Could you rotate just the frames through your kitchen freezer? It would take a lot longer but perhaps better than nothing.

A couple years ago, I acquired some old window screens (the kind with a...

  25. Re: Treatment-Free, Winter 2012-2013, How's it going?

UPDATE: I did the survey yesterday and checked my log book. I actually had only 18 living colonies on 1 OCT 2012. so, the other 12 perished prior to that date. Still, down to one full colony and one...
