What equipment would you guys recommend for the honey house for 50 to 150 hives? Right now I have 50 +/- hives, but am needing to expand to 100-150 hives. My problem is time to work in the honey...

How do you commercial guys rob your bees in the fall and keep the bees from going on a robbing frenzy and getting into the hives? I only have about 15 hives on a trailer and do a trailer at a time,...
I have a Dodge 4500 4X4 with 11.5 ft. bed and 4 door (use it mainly for another business), but it is nice for hauling bees. No problems and I get 11 to 12 mpg. 7.5 mpg pulling a 29 ft gooseneck...
Thanks for the info. This stuff was really hard to extract, even when I put it in a heated room. Also, it was for the most part partially capped. The stuff that didn't have much honey in the cells...
A lot of my supers had honey that wasn't capped in them. Is it okay to eat or sell this honey, or will it go bad? It seems to be just as thick as the capped stuff.
Thanks,
Maybe no one knows what I am asking.
In the past I have always tried putting the old frames above the broodnest so that the bees can remove it or use it. However I would rather just take it out. ...
I am needing to put new foundation in some of my hives. The problem is is that the ones that I need to remove have pollen in them. What do you do with these? I have the same problem if I want to...
Has anyone here ever heard of these? Apparantly the Mayan Indians were working them before the Europeans came over.

Is it too late in SW Oklahoma to make a split? I would like to make a split (have drawn frames for brood), and I am wondering if it would be too late for them to make it into the winter.
I have heard that Diabetics could eat honey with no problems...is this not true? Someone told me that if they replaced sugar in recipes with honey, then they would not be affected like they would...
My bees down here in SW Oklhaoma have not started drawing comb. I have two hives that are booming and bringing nectar in, but it may just be enough to sustain the hive. I have supplemenatal feed on...
I am in South Central Oklahoma, wild plum bushes, apple trees, cherry trees, and peach trees have already bloomed. I have been checking my bees every week to see if they are drawing foundation yet,...
I have a regular wax melter that I use when melting wax cappings, but it doesn't separate out the good wax from the bad wax like Rob was talking about.
Lesli St. Clair---how do you make...
What do you guys do with your old drawn comb wax? I am going to be replacing the old stuff with new foundation, and am wondering what to do with it? In the past I have just thrown it out, but this...
I have 3 hives alive...went into the winter with 3 hives...two of them big hives, one was smaller. I have them all in 2 deeps. Two of them are on the small cell, one on regular..will regress it...
Ummm...the current party in power is not very "fiscally disciplined"....words may be one thing, but actions speak a lot different. I do believe our national debt has skyrocketed here recently.
"Could I be reading comments from people who never shop at Wal-mart."
That is right...I do not shop there...I make a concerted effort to avoid the place. I don't agree with how they treat their...
I have been trying to find any regulations for selling honey here in Oklahoma, but couldn't find any. What do you have to do if you want to sell some at like a Farmer's Market, or somewhere out in...
I just purchased on DE modification kit, and will try it this year. I am thinking of modifiying it a little so that I can use a SBB. I use them in all my other hives and really like them.
Thanks guys.
Michael,
The reason I am wanting to change it out is two fold...one reduce further down in cell size, and two, to get rid of dark brood comb. I also had a lot of swarming last year,...
It is supposed to be nice this weekend, and I am wondering when is a good time to put new foundation into the brood? Should I wait until more honey flow (Mid to late march, early april), or do it...
OK. Thanks. I will go get some more sugar and make a good batch of sugar water up.
I think it was carmelized. There was nothing in the sugar patties to cause it to turn yellow, just sugar and water...I wanted to make sure they didn't run out of feed during the cold spells. I...
