If your numbers are good, sounds like a good opportunity to split & form a 3rd hive. Just a thought.

Solomon is right. One would have to purchase his own wax mill to be sure. Big investment, maybe a club investment?
With all that blooming I'd take the feeder off now unless it's constantly raining there so that they cannot forage.
We fill ours to a reasonable level. We get 21 oz in pints & 43 oz in quarts. As has been stated, weights will vary slightly. Weigh yours and see what you get.
Scrape it off, otherwise they keep using it. This is usually a sign that they need more room. Was it drone brood? Check your boxes carefully to see if they are getting honey bound. If they are, open...
Welcome from north central TN. Enjoy
Watch your comb. When the bees start to build wider combs, add your spacers to give them room. The bees are great teachers, we need to be attentive pupils. :lpf:
I did the kinda the same thing only I added 3/8"X 3/4" cleat, glued & stapled, to three sides leaving the front open. Made my reducer by simply cutting different lengths cleats.
Sammyjay,
Yes. Put a drop of water on the screen 2-3 times a day. Otherwise your queen could die.
On new comb eggs can be very hard to see even for seasoned beeks. Keep a close eye on it looking for open brood. Once brood hatches in older combs you should be able to see eggs then.

Might want to consider cutting some end vents in your peaked roof. Easy to do, just cut a 2" hole on each end covered with screen/hardware cloth inside to release the heat. Good in...
Where did you find this info? I have been looking for it and can't find it.
Thanks
Try putting your cells in a protective cage. Let them hatch & then see what is happening. Search the nuc carefully for a queen. Try another nuc and see if the same thing happens. Hope this helps.
I second Slow Modem. Over 30 years driving, gave it up. Not sorry.
Have any plans for building this you would share? Very nice job!
Welcome from Mid-TN
You said your bees came from a chemical free supplier in TN. I am in TN, and I personally only know 1 chemical free package supplier here. If I am right, these folks are top notch people. I have been...
Pool grade DE is processed differently. As to it not killing ants or anything else, it will NOT kill adult anything, except bees, it kills in the larvae stage. DE did not work for you because you may...
Don't know. Haven't reached my limit yet. All jokes aside, these guys have made some valid points. Time, funds, space to put them, & very important is ample forage. Even with out yards if...
Wolf Creek Bees, Centerville, TN check out there site, www.wolfcreekbees.com. He has both large cell & small cell. I'm getting 3 more from him Wednesday.
Should work. Only problem I see is honey storage. With 2 queens a lot of room will be taken up for brood. May have to super both sides. See Michael Bush's site, he has some info on that. Keep us...
Switching to an upper entrance will stop that. Clean frames w/bleach water solution. As to frame of honey, it should not be hurt, ok to give to bees. I wouldn't want to eat it myself. :D
Same here, I've been buying most of my stuff from them for 6 years. Quality products, reasonable price, nice people to deal with. :applause:
Oh, you will love that sideline uncapper!
Rader has hit the nail on the head, VENTALATION! What some have done who use flat roofs is to raise it app 3", drill several vent holes around it and cover them with screen inside. If using a gable...
