Re: Hey Salty... Got another one. ;)

Had to dig this thread up again.

Just got another call and went out and picked up a small (seems to me) after swarm out of a small tree.

Only thing I didn't like was that they were clustered on...

Re: Upper entrance for migratory cover

So is the larger one just a wider version of this?

Is this enough for the traffic of a full blown hive?
  4. Re: Worst luck at cut outs (or, are we just that bad at cut outs?)

We have a few still hanging around. :)
  5. Re: Worst luck at cut outs (or, are we just that bad at cut outs?)

Yeah, it's becoming a nuisance. We started and didn't have any bees a month ago. One Craig's list ad and a call to animal control and now we have 6 hives. We got two calls yesterday about removals...
  6. Re: Worst luck at cut outs (or, are we just that bad at cut outs?)

Hate to do it Salty, but we are some of the luckiest sumsabitches to ever do removals!

My buddy checked the hive today and found fresh comb with eggs in it.

    Seems we randomly vacuumed up...
  7. Re: Picking up packages with public transit.........

  8. Re: Post image from smart phone to beesource?

My phone only has problems because the pictures are too big. If you use an app to shrink them then you can do it. OR you can browse to tinypic and upload them to there.

    Also, I haven't seen...

Re: Learn something new every day.

I don't know Mike... I've heard them react to being exposed to my red LED head lamp, I can place my hand over the lamp back and forth like a shutter and hear them all buzz a bit differently when hit...
  11. Re: 4 lb package of honeybees arrives and 90% dead!

Wow, we have submitted a few claims with USPS for glassware that was damaged and I'm not even sure if we ever had to even prove anything. I think we just said "hey, it was broke" and whatever else...
  12. Re: 4 lb package of honeybees arrives and 90% dead!

No one doubts your method of getting bees from point a to point b... It's the attitude for if things don't go according to YOUR plan.

    *shrug*

I still advise you to read that book, you don't...
  13. Re: 4 lb package of honeybees arrives and 90% dead!

    What is this flower/tree?

It's growing next to the stump of what was a very large tree that looked like a pecan tree but wasn't.

They just opened up and bees, wasp, bumble bee, love bugs, everything loves it. It smells...
  20. Re: 4 lb package of honeybees arrives and 90% dead!

I own my own business(es), we deal with similar things as well. We also have to order goods based on customers orders 95% of the time. We take deposits before doing all of this and if caught in...
  21. Re: 4 lb package of honeybees arrives and 90% dead!

Does ups handle bee packages differently than regular packages? I ask because I have a decent insight to my ups distro center given they are less than 5 mins from my home and office. I have often...
  22. Re: 4 lb package of honeybees arrives and 90% dead!

  23. Re: is it normal for bees to be clogIging the opening at night.

Mine is wide open, and I was thinking it could be reduced the other DAY as there wasn't a whole lot of traffic.
