    1/2 frame-frame feeder?

I'm going to try out some 1/2 frame 4way mating nucs Mike Palmer style. Just wondering if anyone has some picks and advice on the feeder. Mostly what is used to seal it and what materials work best....

    Re: Mini Mating Nuc

Yep forgot to mention feed I have some sugar water on them. Do you put a screen in the feeder or just fill it up? I was thinking a screen ladder may help with swimmers.

    Re: Mini Mating Nuc

What are you all doing when starting them? I put plastic foundation in with a little extra wax rolled on. Just shook bees in tonight. Have caged virgines in with them. I plan on leaving them screened...

    Re: Grafting without buying anything?

This was my first attempt so it is totally doable without all the fancy stuff.
I think I used 5/16 or 1/4 dowel I'll have to look. The Chinese tool works ok but takes up a bunch of room, can't see...

    Re: Grafting without buying anything?

Paper clip, wood dowel, bees wax, frame, bees is all you need. Oh and some Macgyver brains wouldn't hurt.

    Re: Queen noises?

It looks like I was right. Nice queen in the nuc laying eggs. I checked the queenless hive and it still looks queenless.
I gave them a brood frame with eggs to capped cells out of another hive....

    Queen noises?

Do queens make noises besides piping? Like growling?

    Story.
Hive is a swarm from last year wintered in 2 deeps.
Was looking like one of my best hives this spring.
Noticed 3 or 4 queen cells on...

    Trapout with queen excluder

Anyone try a trap-out where bees exit trough a cone into a box with a 2 frame cavity, then through a queen excluder before they get to the rest of the frames then the box exit?

    I have a trap-out...

    Re: Making Sense of Water

At least the water isnt being injected into gas and oil formations as frac fluid. That water is perminantly removed from our atmosphere.

Re: Queen found in empty Deep

You most likely had a hive with 2 queens and number 2 just got the boot.
  21. Re: Easiest type of cell builder for a beginner

What's the best ratio of feed? 1:1 Plus pollen patty? Or do you go a little thicker on the sugar? How often do you rewet the sponge? Every day?

    Re: My verroa smoker

Not sure it's just a sheet rolled into a tube shape. A hose clamp keeps it in that shape and snug but still movable on the hap eat gun. I treat my TBH through a bottom feeder hole and it works better...
