Re: Queen Cells being torn down in finisher

I think I'm going to start using a nursery bar like the one Honey Run Apiaries sell: http://www.honeyrunapiaries.com/store/nursery-frame-p-242.html

I know it takes an extra step of handling the...

Re: Queen mating nuc colors and success rates

I would generally agree with Specialkayme. About 85% success rate is what I typically see. If you are making them yourself consider making a three way mating hive instead of four. You can fit 3...

Queen Cells being torn down in finisher

So I've tried my hand at grafting this year after raising queens last year using the Miller method. After a couple of underwhelming grafting attempts I usually can get 85% acceptance on my grafts...

    Re: Transporting Queen cells

Do you know how they'll be packaged from the seller? Normally the are placed in a cell protector and then the cells can be placed in blocks that are made to hold cells. Depending on the distance,...

    Re: Queen cell protectors

Joseph, That's a exactly what I was asking about. I suppose you just need to be fairly careful when you place the queen cell in the opening. Too much pressure and you could damage the queen. How...

    Re: Queen cell protectors

After poking around on Honeyrun Apiaries I found this, which looks like it would do the job nicely.

    I suppose an enterprising...

    Re: Queen cell protectors

I have a similar question and was getting ready to post it, but I'll add it here as it is very similar. I too plan on raising queens using JZBZ cups. I hope to allow half of them to emerge and then...

    Re: Got Drones!

I saw drones a week ago. Too bad it was a drone laying queen. I'd say be careful and make sure you don't have the same situation.

I have however saw some capped drone brood in my other hives, so...
