    Beet sugar?

    I have been told by a reputable bee dealer in the area that sugar refined from beets are detrimental to brooding habits from a new queen. Any thoughts? That was the reason for a new queen not laying...

    I started using reclaimed 1" redwood ...made a lot of boxes...since then am having to add more boxes and find it hard to find 1" lumber to match...unless it's pressure treated. Sooo am laminating...

    in making a split with a Q cell and nurse bees on top of the screen I understand that one opens the entry/exit on the opposite end of the parent hive for a short time to let forage bees...

    never heard the sources say why....both have been successful keepers for many years...one was a university professor of entomology.
    I just assumed for AFB
