    Re: Liquid Brewer's Yeast Question

Why not just freeze it in quart-sized zip-lock bags? Then there is no worries about spoiling and exposion.

That is IF he has been telling the truth. I don't think we can assume that.

    Re: Liquid Brewer's Yeast Question

The boiling would definitely kill the yeast. I am not sure about storage, but if you have the room, it wouldn't hurt to put it in the fridge.

Re: Treatment free, is it really that easy

When you said dramatic improvement, I thought there was some study somewhere, or maybe somebody had developed a new strain that was commonly accepted or proven to be superior.

    You are right...

Re: Treatment free, is it really that easy

You may have had good luck, but I think that we are going to need to see some proof that VHS stock has "dramatically improved". The links in post 363 only provide personal anecdotal experience.

I don't understand were all this "contaminated" sugar is coming from. Were are you people buying this stuff?

I get mine in 25-pound sacks from a restaurant supply house (wholesale :shhhh:). It...

Re: Smoker stuck closed - solution to avoid?

My smoker has a perforated disc in the base of the cone. Sometimes it gets so clogged that smoke wont even blow out. I have found that oven cleaner works really well. Spray it on and set it out in...

    Re: SUGAR

Well they don't grow a lot of sugarcane up north so I would expect beet sugar to be a lot cheaper.

It's not. Most of what you hear on the subject is noise that generated by the anti-GMO crowd.

Re: Treatment free, is it really that easy

I guess that I am a little skeptical. If VSH queens are so good, why isn't everybody using them exclusively?

If that was true, why didn't Glen sell his queen rearing operations for a fortune?

Re: Plastic or wax for a new hive?

I have used plastic foundation, wax foundation, Acorn plastic frames, and foundationless. Never noticed much difference. Seems that if the bees want to draw comb, they will build on anything.

The EU bans all kinds of things based on emotions (neonics:lookout:). Science is not a democracy were we get to vote with our feelings.

    Re: Fumagilin-B Honey?

Home made experiment = objective? Really?
Somebody making fungus does not mean that fumaglin causes birth defects.
I think Neil Degrasse would agree.

    Re: Fumagilin-B Honey?

No, I don't. Unless I am overlooking it, the link does not mention birth defects.
