How do you prove Sue Bee didn't contaminate it. The Chinese will say it was good honey when it left their posession.
I would fill some frames with syrup and put 5-6 of them in a empty super on top of the hive. It's warm enough, and the hives are still generating enough heat that they empty them in 24 hrs. Probably...
I would say running a profitable honey business requires skills that most beekeepers can only dream of.
I've seen fall flows render hives honey bound by mid-late Sept. I pull frames and replace them with empty comb so the queen has room to lay. Those that don't often suffer heavy losses,
Why don't you tell them how they must manage the nucs before you sell it to them? I guess that would put a big dent in sale$.
You have any daughters Andrei?
What's in these ' unapproved chemical cocktails' and who are these beeks you refer to?
They won't open the border here (Ontario). Our association along with the 'bee girls' have devoted all their effortS to building a domestic industry that supplies $30 early June queens and $140-160...
It's not blackmail. Fraud is a tricky thing to prove.
How about this, you send me 20 loads of good honey. I contaminate it, alert the authorities that you're selling junk honey and they shut you...
Try looking at it this way. I send you 20 loads of honey. You test it and say it's contaminated. Well it wasn't contaminated when I sent it. You owe me for 20 loads or I want my honey back.
You...
After reading this thread, 4 months of winter doesn't seem so bad. :shhhh:
Hmmm, comparing adulterated honey to rape. Any wonder why beekeepers aren't taken seriously?
I'm just interested in the total amount of honey produced. I never break it down to a per hive average....... just sayin'
The yellow honey we get here is birdsfoot trefoil. It's really taken over the last 3 years and it's a great honey producer.
Close up everything except the bottom entrance and then stuff it with a gasoline soaked rag. They'll be dead in a matter of minutes.
I would have thought that bees continually fed a pollen sub and syrup would expand at the maximum possible rate.
I think if honey went to $5 wholesale there would be no problem meeting demand :) Creating demand might be a problem though.
Anyways, very good crop here so far, but there are still 7 weeks of...
I'll give you the high lights.
550 colonies
56000 lbs honey
After tax income $92,000.00
dec-mar vacation time.
You better check in with your accountant Keith. You might be losing 10 million $ a year and not even know it :lookout:
I think I'd be looking to reduce those expenses by at least $100 per hive.
Many are allowable expenses for tax purposes but not actual expenses i.e depreciation, drawing a wage.
No. You can do both.
I would suggest keeping it a hobby.
You mean $200,000.00 don't you?
Shhhhhh......... Let sleeping dogs lie. All the talk of tainted foreign (and domestic) honey has been very very good for business.
