    Re: Human Made Feral Hives

In your mind Barry. A domestic honey bee is a member of a colony that some beekeeper is watching over, manipulating if you will. The instant that the beekeeper stops manipulating their domicile...

    Re: Human Made Feral Hives

This I can answer. If no body wants them then surely they are your cats and most likely nobody wants them otherwise they would be feeding them. Now bees, if I could only feed them and they would...

    Re: Human Made Feral Hives

If a domestic cat that is in heat is left in your woods, it doesn't take long for a feral cat to impregnate it and you wind up with 7 or 8 cats that are feral. I told my wife to think of them as...

    Re: Condensing my hives

Not a thing Mark he could even leave it as it is without taking any boxes off. I have gone through winter twice now with 5 mediums.

    Re: Counterfeit money

Can you remember the day when it was backed up with gold? The next craze is plastic money with increasing security. No matter what security measures are imposed criminals will find a way around it.

    Re: Human Made Feral Hives

I don't see it as ridiculous. It speaks of colonies (plural). That sounds to me like the law is targeting people who encourage swarming and not one that is unintentional. But hey I am not a lawyer.

I would too if I were a large company with many employees using the equipment. But for myself I do what is most economical.

Re: The "Branch" method of harvesting honey

Yes Mark, that is how my mind works, half cocked and fully armed. Always looking for something better never satisfied with keeping it the same.

Re: The "Branch" method of harvesting honey

I am thinking of a brush like this:

Lowes had these for cleaning but they were a foot or two long. A small...

    Re: Human Made Feral Hives

You feel just by providing more housing for the bees there would be more of them. I can't buy that concept.

  16. Re: Michigan Loses Right to Farm Farewell to Backyard Chickens and Beekeepers

We are grandfathered in with our chickens because there was a permit involved. If there is no permit or registration involved then there is no record to go back to to claim grandfather.

How would this help the bees except in the case of doctor Seeley doing research.
  19. Re: Michigan Loses Right to Farm Farewell to Backyard Chickens and Beekeepers

I don't believe this is a good move for Michigan but there are two sides to the story. If someone moves next to a farmer the farmer needs to be protected but it sounds like the farm is coming into...

Re: Mann Lake rep here on BSource?

There is no reason why a small guy couldn't use an electric hot water tank and do the same thing. You could even do it with LP gas using an RV hot water tank. The heat source doesn't matter what...

By one of the relay outputs. You will need a thermocouple and special wire to sense the temperature. Provisions would have to be made to mount the thermocouple.
