Re: Question about a problem hive...

The dwindling is what I am worried about. At this point, I am seriously considering reducing them to two nucs and trying to introduce queens separately to those.

    Re: Angry girls

If you have four drawn frames with no capped brood, you are queenless and they are pissed. Get a queen asap. You can calm them but transfering a frame of eggs from another hive in the mean time.

    Re: Angry girls

Hot hives are troubled hives....could be a variety of things that caused this.. lost queen being one of the biggies. You could have a Russian/Italian strain that makes agressive girls.

    either...

  11. Re: package clipped queen is leaving by foot after escaping from her cage...?

We started with SBB's when we began keeping bees. We had tons of problems with failed build ups after hiving a package. Slow build up was the biggest issue. We caught a swarm and placed it on a...

    Gnats?

After the hurricane, I was called to a friends house to recover a section of oak that had a hive in it. We loaded up the six foot long 24" diameter section of oak and hauled it to the house and set...

    Re: First Bear Encounter

Re: is this an acceptable set-up?

SHB larva will crawl a good ways to hit the dirt... thats what I read in a search to my question about using crushed concrete under the hives.

Will they get enough direct sunlight in that setup?
