Hey JD.
For me, I typically develop a tolerance through the course of the season. At about 20 stings I seem to just get a little less pain and experience some itching the next day. This year though,...
I have a Dadant Ranger. I think you can add the motor as a upgrade later but I have used some of the manual Dadant units that have been around quite a while and I like the way they are built.
I am going to give it a shot with solids for a while. I will let you know what happens.
I am going to solid bottom boards.
I inherited a hive when I arrived here and I was told it was years old and unattended. It was dilapidated. I changed out the bad components and put an SBB on it....
+1
I will never take them for granted again. They went through a two story (deeps) and a medium that I thought I had stored properly.
In my case the mockingbirds helped clean them.
PITA
I put some liquid smoke in with the sugar water. The best of both worlds :)

Good luck. I hope things go well for you. Do you have enough supers?? What does a "members hive" consist of?
I was in Ohio last year and I did as you suggest (Homo and Styro on top of the inner cover with hole open). Yes it absorbed the moisture that had been causing condensation and mildew on the tele...
Our first year in the low country. Not knowing what to expect, we encounter an unusually warm winter.
Our hives were kind of busy lately. I put some sugar on the inner cover.
Dandelions were...
I have a die out that I brought down south and in April I decided to put a package in it. Well the queen that came with the package didn't last but a few weeks and it took me longer than it should...
I am in SC and I can tell you from recent experience, if the flow is early and the package is late, you will miss it. I have been struggling with a package from the spring as they had a weak queen...
I have a hive that is also under this premise but it has been going on longer. My package came with a queen that didn't (evidently) last too long. I stayed out of the hive for over a week and when I...
My main flow is over.
I am looking for one of those Dadant hand extractors. Little Wonder or a Ranger. Winston-Salem to Myrtle Beach area.
Thanks
Hi. I am looking for a 3 lb. package of bees that I could pickup somewhere along Hwy. 77 between Ohio and Columbia S.C.. I will be traveling that corridor tomorrow (Apr.9).
Call - 330-704-4561 ...
Thanks Mark.
PM sent.
Anybody from Conway, S.C.?
Well as a data point, less than thirty days after what appeared to be some good cleansing flights, my hive appears to have expired. I popped the inner cover and cannot find or see any activity.
I...
I saw some "artificial" honey last week. It tasted artificial as well.
Wow. Bee dirt everywhere. I had never seen anything like that before. Too many of them didn't seem to make it back into the hive though. I am still remaining hopeful that they will survive the...
Good info. Thanks.
Happy New Year
I get what you are saying. The industrial age really escalated that but the "greater good" isn't just a statement. I guess that is what drives the testing to insure the "greater good" and safety. We...
Next it will be BAYER is working on a chemical treatment to avoid CCD !!:p
Merry Christmas
I don't disagree with your statement entirely.
My comment was on the inference to :
"Now Bayer is working on an innovative natural mite control product"
Bayer has saved many from a days...
They are working on new mite treatments because there is much money to be made there.
For someone who claims to be "undecided", you certainly a do a lot of Bayer promoting.
Merry Christmas
