Re: How do you weight your hive?

Re: How do you weight your hive?

Okay, so I missed the rule about weighting. Plus I skipped the Nuc part and straight to multiple hives. I'm going for something a bit more accurate.

    New Queen Question

I have one hive that is queenless. Yesterday, purchased a queen and put her with her entourage in the hive around 1 pm. Today, checking the hive by viewing the entrance wanting to wait two days...
  18. Re: Newbie question - what should I look for?

    Thanks,
Spent this morning going through each foundation ensuring all movable parts were movable. I did not find the comb built to a point I couldn't move the foundations so it was not as bad as I...
  19. Re: Newbie question - what should I look for?

Also, I was in the hive earlier and I noticed in many places the comb stretches from foundatin to foundation, from lower body to upper body. Is that what you mean about 'what can get messed up'? I...

Thanks for the feedback. Should I do this in the middle of the day or later in the day? Or does it matter?
    Thanks

    Ken,
I purchased an established hive. From bottom to top it has a solid bottom board, one 9" brood body, one 6" brood body, an inner cover and a hive cover.

    Thanks

  23. Newbie question - what should I look for?

I hope this is not too much of a beginner’s question. I’ve been reading a lot but still not sure. I purchased my first hive three weeks ago. I check it daily (walk up and look see) and go inside...
