I am going to mix two empty, two honey, and one pollen in each box. I will space them out to encourage them to draw out the empty frames more quickly. I am hoping with a decent queen my new hives...

  4. Re: Well Lost one of my hives. Gotta modify my spring plans now.

Na, hive slowly died not just suddenly collapsed. I found the queen she froze cause the cluster was to small. She definately just stopped laying.
  5. Well Lost one of my hives. Gotta modify my spring plans now.

  6. Re: Putting Girls away for the year. Thanks for the help this season!

I have a 3/4 inch insulation board under the top cover above the inner cover. Should I still put foam on the top? I didn't want to totally seal the top off so moisture could get out under the inner...
  7. Re: Putting Girls away for the year. Thanks for the help this season!

Those hives aren't mine. The property owner allowed him in after I setup my hives this spring. I haven't met him yet but he keeps up with his hives for the most part but apparently decided not to...

Re: High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) feed

    Thanks for the facts guys.

As for natural beekeeping better find a hollow tree dump your bees and walk away. As mentioned there is nothing natural about manipulating boxes of bees. I am in it...

Re: High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) feed

Good question! I will be running 12 hives next year and mixing up 12-24 gallons of sugar syrup a week is going to be royal pain in the butt. I am considering buying some 55 gallon drums of HFCS for...

Re: How many bees do you smoosh?

Maybe I am heartless but its their fault as I see it. I will gently place everything giving them ample time to get out of the way. If they are stubborn thats their choice. I attempt not to...
