  2. Re: Bird House Cut-out in my back yard - 2-2-16

I removed that birdhouse with bees from a customer several months ago. They were about 5 feet up in a tree. I just waited till night, sealed the entrance and took them home. I just now was able to...

Those are the rubber gloves you can get in the gardening section of Lowe's our Home Depot.

However, I usually wear a thin cotton-ish glove underneath to soak up sweat.

Re: Removal of small swarm here in Florida

Thanks for checking out my website and complimenting it!

But yes, as far as raising queens, I don't do any formal queen breeding. Also, I don't breed queens for the sake of selling individual...

Lol, I have to please the customers.

I AM actually enjoying doing removals with them, though.

Re: Removal of small swarm here in Florida

Yes, I'm babying them because they were so small and helpless.

Over the next several days I'll get them more workers and comb with supplies and I'll start leaving them out at night.

Re: Removal of small swarm here in Florida

Yes, I relented and starting incorporating Langs because so many people were requesting Lang nucs. I now have a waiting list of Lang customers.

But yes, for him to pay me fifty bucks to remove...

Removal of small swarm here in Florida

    .

So yes, swarms still happen this time of year here in Florida, although I'd bet this particular
swarm was some sort of emergency abscond for whatever reason.

Right now, I'm keeping them in a...
  11. Re: Yet another removal in Florida - keeping your wintertime entertainment alive

I got the jumpsuit from Blue Sky. I got the jacket that I'm wearing at the end from Pigeon Mountain. I like them both. However, I abused the jumpsuit very badly by putting it in the washing...
  12. Re: Yet another removal in Florida - keeping your wintertime entertainment alive

That's true. However, I DO have to deal with SHB. That's the extent of what I'm willing to handle. The big red ants were a disaster for awhile until I built the mote system.

    But again, even...
  13. Re: Yet another removal in Florida - keeping your wintertime entertainment alive

Yes, it's the feral mutts. Just the way I like 'em.

I see bright orange and fully black bees sometimes in the same hive. But yes, it's mostly the 'dirty blonde' bees that I have which keep...
  14. Re: Yet another removal in Florida - keeping your wintertime entertainment alive

LOL, I'm going to start building mobile homes as bait hives. :D

I appreciate you all watching. I'm glad to be one of the few offering "entertainment" for the winter months.

  15. Re: Yet another removal in Florida - keeping your wintertime entertainment alive

    Yes, indeed.

It's almost a shame to have to tear it down, but their fate would be a lot worse if not saved.

    It's Christmas Day.

Would anyone be interested in a live stream of me inspecting some hives today here in Florida?

  20. Re: Florida, keeping removals going during winter

    LOL, yes.

I will probably do a little of both types of hives on removals from here on out in order to offer customers both options.

Regarding the Lang bee vac setup, wouldn't my videos be a lot...
  21. Re: Florida, keeping removals going during winter

Yes, I agree 100%. That's the situation with the hives I have in my yard. However, it's very disturbing when you find the ones in the wild with such an infestation. But I will say it's amazing...

  24. Re: Would anyone be interested if I streamed top bar inspections live?

My stream today is only going to be inspecting several hives. I'm not going to do a major transfer of comb. I will do that when I do a cut-out later today. Those bees I will place in the Lang...

Tomorrow at 12 noon Eastern Time, Friday, 11/27/15, I will start streaming my transfer of some top bar comb over to a Lang deep nuc and possibly also a Lang medium nuc.

    There's nothing in...
