Re: Passing of Walter W. Wright

I'm truly going to miss his contributions. Some of his theories stirred the pot of the beekeeping world, but he stood behind them all the way regardless of the opinions of others. I admire that...

    Re: No compete clauses

I'm 28, and fall into that younger crowd I guess. BUT....I have never wanted to get into bees for the money...lol, I have yet to find it anyways but that's besides the point! I have had a couple...
  4. Re: Kelley news letter says: don't feed your bees GMO sugar!

I read it too. I wonder what it would be like eating the original ancestor of corn? From what I've read, it was the size of a head of wheat and only had one head per stem. Can you imagine? I've also...

Re: Elm tree is buzzing today

    Re: Bait hive locations

Same here. I'm not sure why though. I've also found that wood from fruit trees like peach or apple lures bees the best. I wish I knew why.

    Re: Oxalic vaporizer

I thought I'd post here instead of starting a new thread. How long will a fully charged battery last in you all's experience? I will be using the varrovap model. Thx!

Re: Kirk Webster Does It Again

[QUOTE=Barry;1352075]I read it. Since you're a Vermont beekeeper, can you please give us your take on what he wrote besides "rubbish"? Had no knowledge of this.]

    Re: sprouter design

I prefer my lentils in a deep nuc box. Granted, you won't have as many lentils but there will be more upward movement of the sprouts with the taller box. You could also put a second nuc box on top...

Re: Weight of a full medium super

Come on folks, you're missing the obvious. Everybody knows that when you START pulling honey, the medium super weighs anywhere between 30-40 lbs. by the time you are FINISHED pulling honey, the super...

Re: Plans for 2016... am i missing anything?

25 hives for 25 acres of pumpkins does indeed sound like a lot, but it's your call. I will say this though, no matter how many colonies you put on them be sure to let the pumpkins bloom first so that...

    Re: mouse in honey

    Eek!!

Would you eat it knowing it had a decomposing mouse in it? I wouldn't. But I also wouldn't write it off as a loss either. Feed it back to your bees this winter or next spring. It won't...

    Re: The price of Honey.

In your early post you were concerned with affordability, but here you state that eating out is very expensive and that hardly anyone cooks at home. Thus, most people must be eating out and paying a...

And then you can cut them out, transfer them to a box with frames, and take a picture to show that they are no longer feral bees. :D

Re: A new neonic study on queen health

I would say it's at this point where we need experts on varroa mites rather than primarily honeybees.

    Re: The Prius frame

I don't know how many frames I have like that. At least for me, it's what happens when you use mediums to fill in for deeps on your swarm traps and forget about it until a couple weeks later when the...
