Re: Now I wish I knew how to raise queens

The University of Minnesota has a DVD and workbook course that you can order. I don't remember how much it cost, but it goes into great detail on how to raise good queens.

    Efficient way to Locate Queen?

In the next couple of weeks, I'm planning to split 100 colonies into 200 to 300 nucs, with basically nothing left of the original colony. I'll have queen cells ready to go. My question is, how can...
  5. Re: I've just been offered the honor of speaking on earth ! :)

Search for Marla Spivak on youtube. She has a great video about 15 minutes long. Also, the documentary "More than Honey" (available on Amazon) has some great material. Both of these describe the...

    "Miles to Go" 2014?

I've seen some information on the "Miles to Go" educational program for would-be migratory beekeepers. Does anyone know if this will be repeated in 2014? I'd really like to attend - how can I stay...

Re: Am I on the right track?

I'd double check to make sure that entrance reducers aren't included with your complete hive kit. I would think they would be. No need to buy two extras if they are included. Good luck with all...

I second the nomination of Tate's Apiaries. I purchased some packages from them last year - had a great visit with them, they are wonderful people. I would do business with them again in a...

Re: Nucs - Perfect strength at Sale?

I sold 40 nucs this past spring - my first year to sell any. I plan to do about 100 in the coming spring. So I'm not old timer, but I've been wrestling with the same questions in my mind. I want...

    Re: Dark Wax

I'm no expert personally, but I have read on here that if you pour the wax into thin sheets, on a cookie sheet for example, and let them sit in the sunlight it will lighten the color of it.

    Re: Selling nucs ?
