Re: Too late to add hive body?

Thanks for the response. I have already rearranged at this point. I did not add brood to the third deep as I did not want to spread it too thin. When I inspect next I could move the honey frames...

Re: Too late to add hive body?

What I did is add a deep to the middle. I moved 4 frames of brood up to the new box and put a couple frames of honey on the outsides of the bottom and middle deep and arranged the remaining frames...

Too late to add hive body?

Inspected one of my hives today and discovered the top deep had ten frames of mostly capped honey. I was surprised by their progress in the last two weeks but now I am concerned the queen is running...
  7. Re: Local absence and local extinction, a confounding factor in TF prescriptions

No, not at all, I come here for the great variety of opinions.
  8. Re: Local absence and local extinction, a confounding factor in TF prescriptions

There are many places on BS to present your position on treatments. As one of those naive newbees I would love a place to share information about treatment free beekeeping, and this should be the...

    Re: Customer concern

"What if I bought one jar, can I get another one for half price or free"

Re: Reason to go to top entrances

Thanks for this explanation. I also had been looking at old threads about top entrances and saw a few comments about the foragers having less distance to travel to deposit their goods. I had...

    Re: Wolf Creek Apiary

I bought one package in mid may and it has been trouble free. Arrived with very few dead bees. Great communication in my case.
  20. Re: first inspection in 10 days.... here is what I found and did... close call.

I recently acquired a hive which had previously swarmed. It went about 4 weeks without seeing any brood/eggs etc. I added a frame of eggs/larvae and 4 days later they had built no queen cells. 5-6...

    Re: Drone brood only!

Unfortunately, at the time, I had no comb to add, the hive that cast the swarm was not my own. I've never been hip or cool, just trying to start on clean comb. I also had no idea I would be offered...
