Thanks for the input.
No dead bees at entrance and only lasted a half day. Bars were empty before the activity....maybe just a mating party. Everything seems back to normal now.

Newbee Concern:
Heard a loud buzzing yesterday late morning.
Went to the hive area and there were many bees about 100 feet from the hive, appeared to be swarming. A few minutes later the swarm was...
Thanks for the correction and advice.
Thanks for the reply.

Based on what we researched, we built out TBH with 1.25 bars for brood comb placed toward the entrance and 1.50 bars for honey comb placed further away. My 1 month old package bees are building...
Thanks for the input. Based on your input, other forum replies and a local Langstrom beekeeper input, what are your thoughts on this hybrid approach: Bee package placed in hive separated by divider...
Thanks...wasn't sure which forum would be best or if TBH would have it's own method.
Good Afternoon,
Would like some advice from experienced beekeepers please.
I received a 3# package of bees 4 weeks ago. When I received them over half were dead but the queen was alive. I...

Wow...that looks like a mess but it appears that you got it all back on track in a couple weeks or so.
As a beginner, can you tell me how I could avoid the cross bar combing?
Thank you, I now can visualize what you mean. I may just forgo a bottom screen and ventilate with entrances on both ends of the hive once it is established.
Yep...thanks.
Thank you for identifying the different queen cages by name. I was able to google the names and actually find some site with photos...much clearer now and I know what to expect when my package...
Good idea on a hinged door over the bottom screen that opens in hot weather AFTER they are established. I read Steven Ogburns post about losing his package and I do not want that to happen.
I am...
Thank you very much for your comments.
1) Greasing the legs sounds like a good idea.
2) We have notched about 1/2" on the end of the bars about 1/8" deep so they sit down on the sides and don't...
I am such a newbee I don't have a good understanding of the queen cage, candy end, plug etc. I have watched a couple of youtube videos but am still unclear. Can you give me some detail?
Thanks for the experienced advice. I was planning on just spraying the package screen with a sugar water mixture but they should have some mixture left in the package can I suppose so may try only...
