    You should hit the hive with Powdered sugar, also known as confectioners' sugar, to kill those beetles. When I start my smoker, I give it hard squeezes to get the thing going and keep doing that...

    Back in the 60's and 70's we used them to prevent swarming... what was nice, is if the queen went in the bees would start balling her and we would take them and the trap, move it to another hive...

    I paint the outer sides and the landing part just into the hive. I don't paint the bottom and only ever use the larger side.
