    You say it is about 5 feet off the ground, could you cut the top off the tree and leave the hive until spring so they can survive?

    You mention the bees are about 5 feet high, can you just cut the top out of the tree leaving the hive intact until next spring when the bees can be removed safely and have a chance of surviving?
