    Re: Would this work.

I'd like to add another hive. Also I like the three deep hives set up . This would give me hives with 2 deeps and 1 medium of brood. I could then add frames of brood to my third hive (which would all...

    Would this work.

I have two hives of Carnies. They are two standard deep boxes each. I have no more deep boxes but I have a lot of honey supers. What would happen if I put a honey super with drawn comb between the...

    Re: Frame Choice

I have three hives and I use crush and strain exclusively. It is not a great deal of work and I like the wax for candles and such. I use plastic frames and take the wax and honey off them with a...

Re: Getting Mann Lake to make 4.9 plastic

I've been thinking about trying to add a thin piece of wood to the top of the plastic frame. About the size of a paint stir stick. There are some good glues out there. I'm gonna work on it this...

    Recognizing Dearth

I know what dearth is. How do you recognize that dearth is happening? I've looked through thread after thread but can't seem to find an answer.

    Re: Best fuel

I like pine needles and dried sumac flowers. The sumac really works good for me. I also toss in a few small pine sticks.

    Re: Ask Questions Here!

Maybe. I'm a gardener and have long been concerned about the lack of bees. I am also a walker and I walked around my neighborhood (within a couple miles of my house) looking for honey bees. I did...

    Re: Ask Questions Here!

I don't have any bee keepers or honey bees that I know of within 20 miles. My queens are going to have some trouble finding a stranger.

    Re: Ask Questions Here!

I am a third year bee keeper. I had one hive of Italians that I thought was doing very good and they died last winter(their second year). I now have three hives of carnolians(two are splits). I...

    Re: Odd Bear Behavior?

I agree. We can co-exist with the bears. My hives are in my backyard, I have non-lethal shot for stinging and scaring bears away. I load shotgun shells with airsoft bb's. stings but causes no damage.
