Re: Queen laying in honey super

Let em hatch and move on. I try not to run excluders and some times they lay a few eggs in the supers. I had to leave a few frames of honey behind last weekend due to small amounts of brood. They...

    Re: Brown Honey?

I pulled some frames of over wintered honey last spring. It was thick as molasses and very dark. Very tasty though.

    Re: Clear honey?

Sorry, did not mean to suggest that. I was just saying it has to be honey. Before I got into bee keeping I thought honey only came in one color.

I live in the middle of no ware and my closets neighbor is a half mile away. There is no way this is sugar. This is only my 4th year but I was impressed with how great the capped frames looked. I...

    Re: Clear honey?

I have tons of Black Locust all around me, and with the cool temps this year they bloomed for a long time. This is close to water. Does black locust demand a premium?

    Split them again?

This queen just refuses to lay off. I split this hive early this year with a new queen. They built back up in no time with queen cells. I split them again using the queen cells. I also made two nuc's...
  23. Re: What kind of Honey Bees do you think these are?

  24. Re: What kind of Honey Bees do you think these are?

I agree. Good looking bee though.
  25. Re: Expectations of five frame nucleus hive purchase?

I made up two nuc's a month ago. I gave each a new mated queen from Georgia. Both installed on five drawn frames of comb. Even with the cold weather both have done well. Four to five full frames of...
