I would be a beekeeping mentor for the beekeeping merit badge.
I think the key here is he said they were unnecessary.Helpful-yes,necessary-no. There are many healthy colonies on solid bottom boards. Try both types and do what you want with your bees.
I would combine that with a can of Raid!!
I had this problem last year. Try placing the medium super between the deep boxes on the double deep hive to get them to draw out the foundation. dont leave it too long as you dont want brood in the...
coumaphos, place it under a piece of corrugated material like cardboard with paper removed from one side, shb hide under cardboard and come in contact with treatment. You could contact the state...
I personally would be more concerned about the wax moths. Do not give your bees more comb than they can defend. Small hive beetles will on occasion show up on bees from the south, keep an eye on them...
3 hives all still going, not out of the woods on winter yet! 04062
cross wiring would be easier than having it sag and have to redo it .
iddee do the bees like the maple sap?
I don't use these myself but a relative does. I was unhappy with the amount of 1/1 syrup spilled before a vacum forms, other than that they worked fine. Is the plug pushed in even with the lid?
Take a live trap, wrap it with a decent tarp leavinng the ends open with enough extra to cover the ends when skunk is caught. After you catch the skunk carefully cover the ends up place trap in truck...
feeders of some sort, protective gear, get the extra boxes and frames at least you may need them in an emergency, I did and had to scramble around and manufacture an emergency bee house!
combine #1 and#5,you may need to feed the "extra" honey to these , try to feed them all fumadil 2 to 1 syrup. If you want good local advice email the state apiarist he will be helpful.
BRENT BEAN - Not that I agree with it, I got a flyer in the mail today from a supplier recommending combining checkmite with formic acid treatments for high mite loads.I dont know but that may be...
I think that the formic treatment will break the brood cycle for 3 to4 days, also treats for tracheal mites. I would think a grease patty and antibiotic treatment after mite treatment would be in...
I had the same problem, double check to make sure they are truly queenless. While checking also look for signs of laying workers, if they are not queenright and no laying workers you can do a newspaper...
Is it ok to feed my bees over the inner cover when using mite teatments?
While I have yet to make comb honey,I have been told to oversuper your comb supers as in put comb supers over filled or partially filled supers.
I see my bees crash landing when bringing in nectar or water.
Hey man that sure [edit by mod] doesn't look like Florida?
You will make mistakes just take your time and learn from them, just do your homework and most importantly take your tme.
Local beeks use their entrance reducers like hinged doors leaving one corner in,swing it open in summer then swing it closed in cooler weather or winter.;)
Thanks for the info , I apreciate it;
