    Ido'nt know about unwanted genetics but this is a good suggestion to control drone numbers, use only top bars at numbers one and ten frames.

    Beautiful pic Tomas in my neck of the woods it is also called "fever grass" because of the therapeutic effect it has on a fever.This just a wonderful plant.

    Hi Rex the swarms will not be drawn to the plant because the scent is not as prominent if the plants leaves are not been disturbed, as to its use as a smoker fuel, i tried it once while doing hive...

    bigbear i concur, in my neck of the woods foundation-less frame usage is quite widespread,my technique is to place such frames in the numbers three and seven position in the brood box,the two frame...

    In my neck of the woods the consumers prefer glass, its my preference too, however some farmers has started plastic recently this is been watched with cautious optimism.

    when i combine hives like you did i just spray both colonies with a diluted mixture of sugar and water and apply in a mist, a clean spray can normally does the trick.

    i sometimes find that using water (sprayed in the form of a mist) to retrieve a sworm is far superior to the use of a smoker.

    these outside genes can be a good thing in that these drones would have acclimatised themselves to your local that is if the queen is not already from local stock.

    hi arthur, the SHB is not present in my local (well not as yet) however other members of my association has reported seeing it in their hive, this new to our local.
