That's the coolest swarm I've seen for sure. My wife pointed out , if you look the other way it looks like a fighter jet.
If you see bees in the nuc at night then more than likely you have a swarm. Have a look the next day to make sure.
Ground Cinnamon!
Sprinkle it around in the hive and around on the ground. I was amazed how well it worked.
I tried making honey out of peanut butter and jam. For some reason it didn't work. Now that I'm older I now know why, I was using the wrong jam
I like over the tire trailers, no wheel fenders to mess with. I have a 20' car trailer and it works for now. It holds 50 hives exactly. I was thinking of some sort of a boom lift mounted on a over...
How's he do that?
I second the cinnamon. It amazed me.
:)
That's awesome. Thank you for sharing a moment in time at the Dewhurst family home. I can't wait for my son to get older.
Got my vote. Doesn't hurt to try.
Sounds like you pissed off one of these guys and the others are just groupies along for the who knows why. Maybe stole a girlfriend or something. Either way these guys should be poster children for...
I may be way off on this brain storm so please correct me if I am.
If you have another hive maybe you could take the queen out of it and allow the stronger hive to make another one.
I forgot about the binding issue. Thought maybe I was the only one. Also, the veil material is really cheap feeling. Like a thin window screen that I don't expect to get much use out of it.
I bought the full suit around Nov and it's definitly breeze. I'm not a big fan of the way it feels on my skin or the way it fastens around the ankles. Also seems to be to much material in the front...
I would eliminate one of the deeps altogether till the hive has filled out a good portion of the single deep and then put the empty deep on the top. Good luck.
Thank you for having a look.
I have a yard in Linden where the grower is growing walnuts and pomegranates. He's going to be spraying Manzate in a couple weeks. I'm wondering if I should move...
How long can a package stay in a warm garage or a warm area while the weather gets better?
If you can find a frame with both eggs and brood that would be great. With spring here I would help keep them alive as much as possible. I would feed them syrup and pollen till their strong. I...
I'm with jrbbees.
I had some of those buckets just for water and even 3 years later if they warmed up even a little you could still smell the pickles. I tried putting baking soda in one of the...
Eastsidebuzz- what species of almonds did your bees pollinate?
Thanks JRG13 and yes I'd agree with you to Mike if I was getting a check. Every year it's the same old sob story about how he's waiting for money to come in so he can pay me. I'll get $500 here or...
Now that were getting a little rain will that wipe out anything that might have been holding on? Are the anthers what the pollen sticks to when the bloom first opens? What will the bees get from...
In my opinion that would have helped a lot. You used the word "had", Did they starve? What is in the frames right now?
I included the link for the blue diamond bloom report and I was wanting to know if the blooms in this picture are done. I have bees in buttes and padres off Keyes road and hwy99 in Ceres and I think...
I always check mine at night. A coupe taps at the front door should be enough to get them to come see who's there. If you see eyes looking back at you then you have a swarm. I'd let them sit for a...
