Re: Where to buy honey in MA?

You could try Crystal Bee Supply in Peabody. They usually have a good supply. www.crystalbeesupply.com/. Or N.E. Bees/Carlisle Honey they are a bit further away though http://www.carlislehoney.com/.

    Re: Smooth Creamy Honey?

I have had the same thing happen. I noticed a couple months ago that my bees had died so I extracted all that I could, and left the rest for the other hives to take. Mine looks like creamed honey,...

Sometimes even mated queens will pipe when they are released in to a new hive.

Sticky: Re: Please Post your Swarm Dates?

I caught another swarm in my yard on Monday. Today I got a call from my daughter and son in law, who was in Exeter New Hampshire and spotted a swarm in a tree over the house of friends house.

Sticky: Re: Please Post your Swarm Dates?

Had swarm around 3:00 again today, from the same hive that swarmed yesterday. They were at the top of a huge tree, and it began to get windy and rain right after they landed. I put an empty hive...

Sticky: Re: Please Post your Swarm Dates?

Just caught a swarm from one of my hives around 3:00 this afternoon. It was about the size of a soccer ball in a branch about 30-35 feet high. I am half tempted to cut down every tree on my property...

Re: Who got what for Christmas?

I got a new Ultrabreeze bee suit and gloves. All I asked for was a cheap inspectors jacket, but now I'll be staying cool and tormenting my bees in style!
  10. Re: Thinking about keeping bees...looking for advice.

I have 17 hives in my yard now. The only people who have been stung are me, and my son in law who helps me with the bees. No one else in my family has been stung. I have three grand children, kids...

Re: what if I leave a super on?

From experience... The queen will probably lay eggs in it. But you won't have to worry as much about them starving.

I did a good job strapping my hives down. I just had a huge pine tree fall right through the middle of my bee yard. It took out 5 hives. Not fun....

  16. Re: Is it bad to tip frames with eggs upside down during inspection?

Americas Beekeeper is right. Whether it is a queen cell or not, turning the frame upside down briefly during an inspection it not really going to affect the development of the bee. But he fails to...
  17. Re: Another bee myth busted. Bees will clean frames over a top cover. :-)

Yeah, the bees don't really listen to the things people on Beesource say they are supposed to do. I had the same thing happen last fall, and just left the box in over winter.

We have had at least 13 swarms so far this year from just two second year hives and four spring packages. Seems a bit excessive to me? There seems to be plenty of room in the hives for brood, and...
