    Re: Thermal Image Gun

Flir one for iphone came today. Just a quick check on some of the 50 nucs shows that it works well on the smaller boxes, these are 4 over 4's on common bottoms. I only have one 10 frame...

    Re: Thermal Image Gun

Well, I ordered a Flir one, should have it by the end of the week. I'll try it out and report back. If it will allow me to determine the location of the cluster and possibly size that would be great....

Ian, What are we looking at exactly? Did you form an opinion on utilizing this info? I've been considering one of the Flir one units for the iphone for winter checks of cluster location. They are on...

2011 F350 118,000 miles-one bad sensor, 2012 65,000 miles no problems. Both always have trailers with 7-12000 lbs weight. Love that motor, quiet-strong- good milage. 1999 7.3 348,000 miles. Still...

Re: Should I give up or try again?

Perhaps 10 years ago they were, we currently have 50 hives headed by BeeWeaver Queens and couldnt be happier, low varroa count about 1%, and no aggression issues at all. I have Carnies and Italians...

    Re: Thymol & mites

<I tend to think the real "sweet spot" for Hopguard usage is in the spring in a nuc of 4 comb size once a new queen is up and running after a brood break. Much less chance of queen issues with it.>

    Re: Winter Prep

Michael, could you expand on the relationship between cluster size and the correct amount of stores in your area?

Based on the info provided in the Q&A section of their website I would say they don't have plans to adapt to the iphone6. I called Flir and while they wouldn't say for sure that the device would work...

    Flir one

Has anyone used the new Flir One infrared camera for IPhone yet? I was wondering if it can "see" the cluster through the hive body wall. Seems like a good way to check cluster size and location...

    Re: Strange honey

The op never said it was 25% moisture content. Looks like just crystallized honey to me, especially since it's been setting for quite awhile. Either tell the customers that it is crystallized or...

Re: Robbing results or pesticide kill?

How did they get into the oil pan? If you are talking about a shb oil tray under a screen BB, they shouldn't be able get there. The oil will drown them.

  18. Re: Is the last week of June too early to start nucs in NE Ohio?

We just made up 20 nucs with 2 frames of brood, one honey and pollen, and one empty yesterday. Gave them mated queens today. Plan to do at least one more round of them maybe 2 if we get rain to keep...

Re: When is it OK to Peek?

Remember that swarms are comb building fools, I would look now to make sure they are building properly and not cross combed. Much easier to fix early rather than late.

Re: Beeweaver queens in the north

A couple of questions if that's ok. You say you gave her about 6 weeks, did you requeen a hive with her or was it a package or nuc?

Also you say that " all other b weaver queens from last year are...
