    Re: French frame buidling jig

Great trick that I use not only for brushes but paint rollers, too. Just turn the roller a couple of times inside the bag. Make sure printed side of bag is out so ink doesn't get onto the roller.

Forgot to mention that a few years ago, someone in our local bee club gave a presentation on beekeeping in China. As part of his trip he visited a beekeeping operation specializing in royal jelly. ...

Re: Wrapping hives in cold climates.........

I used thumb tacks and just pushed them in with my fingers. Don't think the bees even knew I was there. Used a big roll of 15 lb tar paper. 80 inch lengths are enough to go around a 10 frame set...

  16. Re: ideas/suggestions for hive inspections during the "mean" and lean season?

I live in Massachusetts. The thermals aren't for warmth, they are to make a buffer between the stingers and your skin.

I only suit up like this if I am about to deal with potentially very...

Wear protective gear that does not allow the bees any access.

Inspectors jacket with visor underneath veil to keep bees away from face. Jacket tucked into white painters pants. Thermal long...

Hi Bob, Are you home? We're on our way to Cohasset to move bees to the island in Quincy. Our red maple bloomed last week and Dean was able to get some great photos. Our bees in central Mass. have...
  21. Re: Attach foundation using only wax as fastener under the top bar?

Perhaps the speed the bees draw has to do with comb use. With foundation, the queen can lay in the cells before they are drawn. If a flow is on, the bees can draw foundationless and fill with...
