Re: OTS Bee keeping and undrawn comb

I've got Dadant packages, 27 of them. I picked them up from my supplier on May 3rd. 26 installed and accepted the queens just fine, one queen died before she was released.

    Most second deeps go on...

Re: Trying OTS..Notched my First Frames

I'm paying attention to this thread. I bought Mel's book and can't wait to get started. My experience might be a little different as I'm starting over with packages this year. I believe I'll be able...

Uncapped nectar...what to do with it?

I pulled my supers in July to get a first batch of honey. I extracted in one night and put the supers back on. The bugs cleaned them and started filling them up with nectar.

    The frames are full...

  17. Pulling honey supers before dusk for evening extraction...doable?

Has anybody pulled supers a couple hours before dusk and put them in front of the hives to let the bees make it back to the hive and then collected (hopefully) bee-less supers for nighttime...

Re: Odd bee...havior re: my mother in law

Thought about that...but we haven't come up with anything in particular that she uses. We wondered if it might be the detergent she washes her clothes in but that sounded too left field.
