Looking for one or two 3lb packages.
Thanks,
John
Might check with Better Bee (Greenwich NY) or Dadant's Waverly Store if you are willing to drive a bit and don't want to pay shipping. Bees will soon be in short supply so I would act fast.

I never got anything from them but they are the largest commercial beek in Mass. last I knew and not that far from you.
Thanks for the tip, Joel. A little too far for me, though.
Mike,
I checked them before, they only appear to be selling nucs. I did get an email from a place in RI today, they have 3lbs packages for $90. http://ecmp.accountsupport.com/webstore/index.php
They are new, I think they took over for Beehavin' Apiaries in RI.

I suggest talking to Ken Warchol (one of our state bee inspectors) before purchasing from someone "that took over for Beehavin'"....I know nothing about this supplier...nothing good or bad. I do know that I would avoid Beehavin' like the plague for several reasons....and I would be wary of someone claiming to have taken over for them who thinks that such claims will help rather than hurt business.
I'll also stick my neck out far enough to point out that not all packages or nucs are created equal, and if you buy in something coming off pollination or with disease....well, you wouldn't be the first.

What's up with Beehavin'? I've never bought anything more than supplies from them. Never bees. But you've roused my curiosity..

John:
Were you able to locate any bees ? I was considering Wood's Beekeeping Supply myself.now I am not so sure.
Ya after I posted it I remembered that beepuchers only do nucs sorry.

Let me make sure I'm clear.
I know nothing about Wood's....my concerns are in regard to Beehavin'. It's been claimed here that Wood's is taking over for Beehavin'....I have no information about this beyond what has been posted in this thread by others.
I would want to know where the packages are actually coming from. Personally, I wouldn't purchase any bees that are coming off of pollination contracts....but in this regard, a package is much better than a nuc.
As I said before, I would contact Ken (one of our state bee inspectors). I'm not sure why one would pay attention to my concerns, and not my advice here. I am telling you that I would want more information. I am not telling you that there is anything wrong with the bees that Wood's is supplying...I don't know, I don't know where they are coming from, and I don't know anything about Wood's....I'm trying to encourage you to ask someone that actually might know, and absolutely will give you the best advice he can. Alternatively, you can ask Wood's about the bees....which is where I would have started if I had concerns.

deknow - I didn't inquire about Wood's, I inquired about Beehavin'. And that was only because you suggested to stay clear of Beehavin'.
I don't know what makes you think I didn't ask whomever I decided to purchase bees from, about their bees.
6470zzy - I received a few pm's from suppliers, hopefully they will contact you as well.
You could try Mark Robar at Trail's End Farm.
Hi John:
Its good that you were contacted by some bee package suppliers, since I have not as of yet been contacted do you think that you could share some of the info with me? Just PM me if you can. Thanks
