Recommendation for migratory cover
Hi all,
I plan to start making new covers this winter and want to make them all uniform and keep the same style/type moving forward. I was thinking about using advantec sheating and cleats, across the top/front, with a inch and quarter rim built into the lid, my concerns are loading pallets 3 stacks high.
What are your thoughts?
Re: Recommendation for migratory cover
I've been using advantech for mig lids.
They hold up very well, and i haven't seen any warpage.
Don't understand your concern about loading 3-high...the boxes support most of the weight rather than the tops, which being solid serve little structural purpose as far as weight bearing capacity.
If you're concerned about the board disintegrating, I haven't seen any even in the unpainted ones through many rain/freeze/thaw cycles...still as sound as when I made them.
Re: Recommendation for migratory cover
I was more concerned about the cleats on the lid and how they interacted with the bottom of the pallet above.
Thanks
Re: Recommendation for migratory cover
Why do you want a 1 1/4" rim?
Re: Recommendation for migratory cover
I haven't commited to the rim but I wanted to incorporate them into the lid for feeding sugar and pollen patties if they would be sturdy enough
Re: Recommendation for migratory cover
also built in rims are nice for certain mite treatments.
