we're having unusually warm temps today in advance of a strong storm system.
all twelve hives in the home yard have lots of activity, with almost 100% of the foragers returning with pollen and swollen abdomens.
i'm not sure what they are bringing in, but they are flying off the ridge top and going down into the valley for it.
the color of the pollen varies from a pale cream to a light yellow.

i wish i would have thought of that, a video would have been even better.
too bad i won't get home before dark, and the storm front comes through tonite.
Come and shovel the foot of snow in my yard while you celebrate your January honeyflow! I am sure it is a turrible storm bearing down on you!
Next time perhaps... us northerners are all Jonesing for some bee activity! Well... I am anyhow. lol
It happened here to. I don't know about any nectar coming in, but I checked two hives yesterday, and the bees were flying and bringing in what I thinki was dandelion pollen
Mine were on hinbit weed/flower growing in my yard yesterday.
Dandelion and henbit here today and had one help me do some cement work on the front steps, but they will all be back inside and clustered by tomorrow morning.
Fun to watch the purple and orange pollen going in though.

Mine also bringing in pollen 1-12 in IN would would believe it.I also think henibit is red pollen, but also finding white and orange.

It is eight oclock at night and I have one hive with about ten bees fanning like they are making honey. They have only been a few days the bees were not able to get out this winter. They are bringing pollen in like crazy. I have no idea where, everything I see is mostly brown.
Pollen is light yellow and cream colored here...8 hives drank 2 gallon of 2:1 syrup from community feeders today.
