Re: Do we need to start a new thread for 2013???????
I'm guilty of giving badly formatted or missing input myself...that's what I get for not starting at the beginning of the thread....but really, it seems more like a "what's happening now thread" if the casual reader checks the thread out. I had no idea that it was intended to be included in a database.

Is there a certain format that the date should be in?

Re: Post your bloom dates 2013!
A number of years ago ( I can't remember when), I looked at a spreadsheet of bloom times that I thought came from this website. I just now tried to follow the old links, and it didn't work. So maybe no one is compiling it anymore. If that is the case, I can start a new spreadsheet for this year, and once there is some data to show, I will post a link. I think the date format of mm-dd-yy would be fine, and the zip codes allow for locating.
The only other thing I might add is the end of bloom times, but that is hard to remember to post. The sight of the first dandelion is really exciting and memorable, but it is hard to remember to note when they stop.
Re: Post your bloom dates 2013!
O.k. I finished putting all of 2012's bloom dates into a spreadsheet, which I will post soon. First, though, I need zipcodes for a lot of people. So if you posted at all last year or this year, please post with your zip code.
I am hoping to be able to make some cool maps with the data as well. So keep posting whatever you notice blooming, along with the date, your zip code, and state abbreviation. Thanks!

Ruth, from what I can tell by your post above you need the information as PLANT,DATE,ZIPCODE,STATE_ABBREVIATION...correct? I'm entering the below separated by commas only.

That is the info I need. Since I am entering it by hand, you don't need to do the comma thing unless you want to.
Re: Post your bloom dates 2013!
No problem, Ruth. Whatever will work best for you. Are you typing this into a spreadsheet or some other software?

Re: Post your bloom dates 2013!
I set up an Access database in order to be able to manipulate the data in a number of different ways. Plus it makes the data entry much, much easier. I am close to getting it posted somewhere. Does anyone know of a web-based relational database program that would be accessible to the average joe/Jane beekeeper with no special computer knowledge? I want to post this somewhere that everyone can get to and use, but I don't have any web hosting right now. Maybe I will see if google has anything. I keep you posted.

Bees never stopped bringing in pollen from I do not know where. In my yard, Maple buds are breaking open.
Re: Do we need to start a new thread for 2013???????
Can we add growing degree days to this? I just started my own thread but I think they could easily be merged. I'm curious if sweet yellow clover or black locust starts blooming with the same number of growing degree days in Georgia and North Carolina or Maine.
