I need some advise on a clearcoat preservative that I can use on my pine garden hive. The wife really likes the natural wood look and I want the look to last as long as possible.
Any input, especially those who have tried and succeeded would be great. Pics would really be cool.
Man.... I can't wait for spring to arrive. Am I the only one Jonesing for spring? I bet not! lol :rolleyes:

I would use a product from Sikens. Great product a lot of people that own log cabins use it. Just a heads up your cost could be $70.+ I haven't bought any for the last couple years.

I'm happy with my boxes. 1) glue the boxes together with Titebond III, let dry, belt sand them nice. 2) soak the wood (except the insides) with natural Watco Danish oil, then resoak until the end grain will absolutely take no more oil, dry for a day then see if it will take more oil, dry for a few days. 3) two coats of exterior Marine Spar Varnish with max UV protection (except the inside). Works for me.
