How to remove a hive

Merry Chirstmas to all my fellow beekeepers. I have a question or two about how to remove a wild hive from a house. From what I have been told this hive have been in the house for a few year since no one have live there few years. Not sure where it's located in the house, but was told they were in attic, sound like to me it would be between the wall not sure. My questions are, do I need to wait until spring time before removing this hive? What equipment will I need in the removal process? Thanks in advance for your help.

It would be best to wait til warmer weather in the spring. Equipment needed will vary depending on how the house is constructed, and exactly where in the house they are.

One piece of equipment I would suggest is a beevac. There is a section on this forum devoted to cutout's and swarm trapping.

I don't advise anyone to do a cut out without a suit and veil.
Even an easy cut out you still have a few mad ones. And watch out if get some grumpy hive or worse AHB.

Spring will be better so the bees can recoup and recover. In the meantime, lots of good reading in the Cut Out section of this forum. I would go take a look at it to evaluate what you are dealing with, so you can have a game plan. There are also many videos on Youtube. Just search 'bee removal from (wall...ceiling...shed..etc)'. JPthebeeman has some fantastic videos out there, as do many others. (Warning! Very addictive viewing material! :popcorn: )
