Queen flew out of the hive?
Just went out for an inspection of my hives. Opened the top of one and I think the queen flew right out past me. Didn't see any other bees following her and didn't see her while looking through the rest of the hive.....any chance she'll fly back if it was her? I lost "her" in the air. Kind of wierd for this time of year no?
Re: Queen flew out of the hive?
I would say there is a good chance she found her way back, I have seen it happen before. John
Re: Queen flew out of the hive?
Sure it wasn't a wasp or something that got trapped inside?
Re: Queen flew out of the hive?
If she was mated elsewhere by a queen producer, she is probably gone. If she mated from that hive in that location, there is hope however small. Check in a few days for eggs.

No, it was mated from that hive. Will have to check in a couple days I guess and see if there are any eggs, although they've been slowing down around here.
