I live in lower Alabama and looking to start breeding next spring. This will be my second year and going to get a good head start. What is the best way to get into queen breeding and what are some good books to invest in? Thanks for any help.

Queen Rearing Essentials by Dr. Larry Connor is good.
To use the correct term you will be a queen producer or rearer. A queen breeder has hundreds of hives with drone yards geographically isolated with various stocks and usually a PhD in Entomology with a strong background in bee genetics.
Thanks for the reply. Yes queen producer long way from any PhD. Lol. I will check into that book.
Im reading Mike bush's "Classic Queen Rearing Compendium" it covers queen rearing by Doolittle,Miller,Alley,Smith,Hopkins, and Pellett. Lots of good info in this book. Steve
