Heat Tape?

After looking at the R-value of my hive boxes, I am wondering if it would be a good idea to put heat tape inside the hive. Has anyone done it?

As far as I can tell, the tape starts heating if it gets below a certain temperature like 45-50. Are some on all the time?

Is the colony so small that you are afraid that they will freeze?

I would be afraid that it would fool the bees into thinking that it was warm enough for cleansing flights when in fact it was not, and also would make them more active resulting in more consumption of their stores.
