Everyone talks about using 15 lb. roofing felt to wrap their hives, but what about using Tyvec house wrap? It is supposed to stop the wind but still allow a house to breath. Wouldn't that be exactly what we want the hive wrap to do.......stop the wind, but allow the moisture out of the hive?
The tar paper is black which absorbs solar heating. That is its advanatage over the lighter colored tyvek or typar.
Thanks Vance! So we need to find black Tyvec or Typar and we would be in business!! I will probably just use the 15 lb. felt since that seems to work well, even in areas colder than Iowa.
